Session 4: Witnessing in the Spirit

For all those who have been called on and those who will be
That the Holy Spirit direct in all that's said and done and in regards of whom to visit

Review
I. Write by memory a scripture text for each of the following:
1. We may know that we have eternal life             1 John 5:13
2. Eternal life is a gift                                                Romans 6:23
3. The wages of sin is death                                   Romans 6:23
4. Eternal life is not earned                                      Titus 3:5

II. Check your testimony with the testimony check list below


Testimony Checklist

I. Are there any vague generalities

II. Is there too much travelogue

III. Does it give my assurance of eternal life

IV. Did you omit all cliches

V. Did you list some positive benefits



Lecture: Witnessing in the Spirit
I. You must be a Christian Prov. 15:26
      A. You must have invited Christ into your life
      B. He must be the Lord of all areas of your life
      C. There must not be sin in your life 1 John 5:18 and Psalms 66:18
            1. Ask the Lord to reveal sin in your life to you
            2. If any -- confess it -- ask forgiveness -- and for strength to overcome it

II. You must be filled with the Holy Spirit Eph. 5: 18-20
      A. How to be filled Luke 11:13
            Don't depend on feelings; God said ask - you ask -- in faith believe
      B. Power is promised to witness Acts 1:8

III. Be prepared 1 Peter 3:15
      A. Prayer: on whom to visit; that the Holy Spirit draw them to God; for growthand service of the new Christian
      B. Know your scriptures
      C. Learn effective strategy

IV. Witnessing
      A. Go Math 28:19
            Don't wait for them to come to you
            Allow God to lead
      B. Preach Christ 1 Cor. 1:23-25
            Don't be sidetracked onto other subjects, but also, if prospect not interested, don't push.
      C. Share in love -- don't argue
      D. All witnessing won't follow the same pattern; God will direct according to the needs

V. Have faith for results
      A. Many are hungry for God
      B. Trust God to bless your efforts Heb. 11:6 and Math. 21:22

Assignment
Memorize 2 Peter 2:9; Rev. 20:12,15; Romans 3:23
Refine testimony as needed, prepare 3 copies -- for you, the pastor and the course teacher

Mock Presentation
In pairs using "Good News" booklet.
Make sure that all in the class have had the opportunity to practice this.

On whom to call, prepare their hearts, guide us in all things
