Lecture: The Decision

A. Does all this make sense to you?
It's best not to proceed into the Decision until the prospect understands the gospel presentation. Thus, this question is important. This illustration may help:
      1. The Chair Do you believe this chair exists? Do you believe it will hold you up?
The chair represents Christ. It is not holding you up because you are not sitting in it. You must rest in Christ alone for salvation.
      2. The Book of Life (Rev. 20:12-15)
Is. 53:6, the Lord laid our iniquity on Jesus. When we take Jesus as Lord He takes our sins on HImself.
He then writes our name in the Book of Life.

B. Wouldn't you like to receive this gift of eternal life now?
If the prospect should say no, don't prod or push. The decision must be theirs. You have shared the gospel and it is now up to them to accept or reject it. If they reject it, don't in any way become angry or belittle the prospect. In Christian love, invite then to pray and read the scriptures that they might feel God's love and direction in their life. Leave printed material with them giving them the scriptures for salvation. You could leave them the "Gospel Outline" with the introduction removed, or the "Good News" booklet.

C.Prayer:
Many people don't know how to pray. Explain that prayer is simply talking to God. Read the 5 points of prayer to him. Ask if this says what he wants to say. If it does, he may read it as his prayer, or repeat each phrase after you.

D. Assurance:
If the convert does not have scriptural support for what he has just done, the devil will cause him later to doubt the experience. So assurance must be given at this time.
      1. Did you mean it? (read John 6:47)
      2. Where is Christ now? They need the assurance that He is with them. He said if they opened the door, He 3would come in. He is not a liar.
      3. Are your sins forgiven? (1 John 1:9) Some people find it hard to believe that God will forgive them. Further prayer may help.
      4. What do you have now? 1 John 5:13 God has promised this to you when you accept Christ as your Savior. You have accepted Christ as your Savior, in faith, believe -- you now have eternal life because Goad said it.
