How and What Do I Share?

Trying something new to you and putting it into practice can be difficult. With that in mind, I put together these seven quick guidelines to help you as you prepare to share.

I. Prayer
    a. Pray for help in studying the Bible and memorizing.
    b. Pray that the Holy Spirit direct in all that's said and done.

II. In sharing, use God's Word to us. You should always refer back to it, saying, "The Bible says". Don't say "I believe", "I think", "People say", or "I understand".

III. To share God's Word, we must be more than vaguely familiar with His Words.
    a. Very helpful Bible verses are listed in the first tract on the "Tracts" page following this one.
    b. Studies indicate it helps to memorize in a prone position (lying down).
    c. Review scripture before retiring for the night and as you fall asleep.
    d. Make a card with the verse you're memorizing on it. Keep the card with you and review it throughout the day.
    e. Only work on one verse at a time.
    f. Pray the Holy Spirit will help you memorize and be able to recall the verses as needed.

IV. Do:
    a. Be a good listener.
    b. Pray silently as you share.
    c. Share benefits of Christianity -- peace, purpose in living, eternal life.
    d. Quote only the relevant portion of scripture.

V. Don't:
    a. Don't high pressure anyone.
    b. Don't be argumentative.
    c. Don't use terminology your prospect may not know.

VI. The Holy Spirit will lead us to share with different approaches according to the individuals involved.

VII. Tracts
    a. A good way to share
    b. There are many varieties of tracts
    c. Read the tract aloud as the prospect reads along silently
    d. Christian book stores are a great source for many different types and styles of tracts.
