Thoughts About Witnessing

Dee: Hi there. This is Dee, praising God for another opportunity to come into your home via Christian radio.

God is alive and well today and revealing Himself to many people. Hebrews 13:8 says, "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever." Praise the Lord for that. Jesus provided salvation for sinners; Jesus healed all manner of diseases, and he performed miracles of many kinds while He walked this earth as a man. Jesus is continuing to save souls, to heal diseases and perform miracles in this modern age.

Have you ever wanted to share your faith with someone, but didn't know how? Are preachers the only ones who are supposed to tell people about Jesus?

God has numerous gifts that He bestows upon various people. The gifts of eternal life is probably the greatest. God's word speaks to us through 1 Peters 4:10 "Each one of us should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in various forms."

Harv: That certainly puts the responsibility of sharing our faith on each one of us. It's the lay person's responsibility as well as the preacher's.

John: Here's another verse on the subject. "Be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you of the hope that is within you.

Dee: That verse brings up an important element. How can we share the plan of salvation with another person if we ourselves are not familiar with what the Bible says about it?

Harv: When we have asked Christ into our lives and we are making every effort to be obedient to them through reading and memorizing scriptures, through praying and through lifestyle, then we have the right to ask God for the power that He gives through the Holy Spirit to help us minister to others for Him.

Dee: To share Christ with authority we need to use scripture and to lean on the Holy Spirit to convict the prospect of his or her spiritual needs.

John: What if we witness to someone about Christ and that person does not accept him as Savior?

Harv: We have not failed under those circumstances. The Bible tells us to be a witness. Our part is planting seeds and watering them. It's up to the prospect whether he or she accepts or rejects Christ as Savior.

Dee: If we become pushy, we may hurt the cause rather than help it. Psalm 119 says, "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." It is important to memorize some Bible verses for our own sake, but it is also important to memorize scriptures and hide them "in our heart" so that we might be able to share them with others.

John: Mom, I'd like to share one of your experiences in sharing Christ. Remember the high school senior you gave a ride to one day...You knew he was a church goer and asked him if he had ever asked Jesus Christ into his personal daily living. "Well, no," he answered hesitantly. Then you asked him if he wouldn't like to know for sure that he'd go to heaven and he answered, "oh yes."

Dee: When we arrived at his destination we read through a tract on the plan of salvation. He asked God for forgiveness of his waywardness and for Christ to come into his life. I was able to contact someone from his church family so they would encourage him in his new life.

Harv: There are many people out there just waiting to hear the good news about Jesus. How He loves them and died for them. And waits ready to give them the gift of salvation. How he can encourage and help them through life and give them another everlasting life when they leave this planet.

Dee: One of the greatest joys of life is helping someone to find Jesus.

John: There are a lot of people who would like to share their faith with others but they don't know how.

Harv: Knowing just what scriptures to share will help remove the fear. Some very basic ones are in the booklet, Good News For You, facsmile images below...please feel free to use them as you would like! Also see "Tracts for You To Use for others.
