Is your lifestyle not really what you want it to be? Do you wish you could turn it over to Jesus,
but you don't because you're afraid that you'll fail at that too? You're not alone. There's not a one
of us who could make it without Christ. God speaks through the fourth chapter of Phillipians. Listen
to these words: "Don't worry about anything. Instead, pray about everything. Tell God your needs
and don't forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this you will experience God's peace
which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and
your heart quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus." (Tyndale's Living Bible)
God tells us in those verses that he wants us to talk everything over with him. He cares.
Do you have peace within your heart now? You can. Turn your life over to Jesus. Not just one part of it, but all of it.
Ah. Are you still concerned about failing? Look over at the 13th verse. "I can do all things through Christ
which strengtheneth me." Say it with me this time. "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."
Praise the Lord. There's the key. The strength we need comes from Christ. Ask him for it. Trust him for it. You won't be sorry.
Dee: Our guest today is Bob. He was so depressed before he found Christ
that he had even attempted suicide. Hi Bob.
Bob: How ya doin'.
Dee: You had a problem even before you finished high school?
Bob: I think I did. I drank a lot back in high school. I didn't start smokin' drugs
until I got out of high school and then my drug problems began.
Dee: While you were in the army, did you have any exciting tours?
Bob: I spent a little bit of time here in the States going to school and then I
went to West Germany for roughly 2 years.
Dee: When you went to Germany, you basically had an alcohol problem. What happened while you were in Germany?
Bob: I drank a lot and then got introduced to marijuana, hash and
stuff like that and smoked a lot.
Dee: Did you use any acid?
Bob: Later on I did, yes. And finally it came to a boiling point and I says to myself, "Self,
there must be more to life than this."
Dee: You enjoyed Germany so much that you went back there after you got out of the service, to a
high paying job.
Bob: Yes, that's correct. I worked for them for about a year and found that material
things weren't cuttin' it either even though I could have about anything I wanted.
Dee: You had a good paying job with electronics and drove one of the best cars.
Bob: Yeah, I bought a Porsch there and that kept me happy for a while. Then there was nothing, ya know.
Dee: You ran into some trouble in Germany, after you became a civilian due to .....
Bob: The alcohol takeover of the system.
Dee: I see. And about this time you were feeling that your life was in the pits instead of at the top?
Bob: Yeah, well, I was put into a position where I had to leave Germany.
Dee: Kinda got yourself messed up with those drugs and liquor.
Bob: Yeah, about 6 months after I was back in the States, I found the Lord.
Dee: How did you find the Lord?
Bob: This little ole lady spent a lot of time talking to me an' listening to my problems and
understandin' them and tellin' me about the Lord. Asking me to give the Lord Jesus a chance to take over my life.
Dee: Praise the Lord for this neighbor who was willing to reach out and let you
know that Jesus could be the answer to your needs.
Bob: I ended up going to church with her.
Dee: How do you feel about life today?
Bob: Oh, it's great! Jesus Christ has made the difference.
