Worksheet 1: Ways Which God Reveals Himself        TOP

Memory verse: "Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me" (John 5:39).

God reveals Himself through:
A. Personal experiences. Read Hebrews 13:8. Jesus still performs miracles today. Are there any modern day miracles that you are aware of or have experienced?

B. Science and history. Read Job 26:7; Job 38:32; Genesis 8:4; Genesis 7:1-17; Genesis 11:1-9 and Genesis 13:14-18. There are many accounts in the Bible which have been backed up by scientific and historical evidence. For example, there are records of expeditions to the ark of Noah from 700BC up through the twentieth century. The Hittite nation had been thought to be a myth, until the archeological remains of that empire were discovered in 1906. And there are many other such collaborative accounts for various scriptural texts and assertions. Do you know of any others?

C. Transformed lives. The scripture tells us of many lives transformed through their belief in Christ. These include Mary Magdalene (Luke 8:2); James (John 7:5 and James 1:1); Thomas (John 20:24-28); and Peter (John 18:25 and the book of Acts). Do you know of any other lives which have been dramatically changed by Christ?

Worksheet 2: God Loves YOU and Me        TOP

Memory verse: "I will praise thee, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made"
(Psalm 139:14).

A. Feeling like a nobody. Many people don't feel good about themselves. Some causes for this could be an over-abundance of criticism; not enough positive reinforcement; a cold competitive society; negative thinking; lack of purpose; a guilt-ridden conscience; and past failures. Our self-concepts are important because we take them everywhere, including from our childhood into our adult life. These attitudes about ourselves actually effect our behavior and thus who we are.

List negative thoughts you have about yourself. Read Luke 10:27; Proverbs 17:22; and Isaiah 53:6.

B. God wants us to love ourselves. We can be humble and still recognize our self worth. Humility before the Lord does not mean to degrade His creation. It is not good for us to dwell on our weaknesses and failures. To fail is not to be a failure; it is better to try and fail than not to try at all. It isn't good for us to compare ourselves with others. No one has all the attributes his neighbor has and the other fellow doesn't have all of yours. We each need to determine our own strengths and not expect perfection from ourselves. We can't please everyone; there's no use trying. If we are pleased and the Lord is pleased, then we are successful.

List positive thoughts about yourself. Read Philippians 4:8; John 3:16; Romans 5:8; John 10:10; Luke 12:7; Hebrews 2:7; and Romans 8:1.

C. Goals. We can ask God to help us to achieve whatever He would like, and then it is up to us to work toward that goal. We can learn to be content with what we cannot change. Happiness an peace come with accomplishment of something that is meaningful to you and God. Facing what is unpleasant also helps build self-esteem, as does involvement with others and their needs. Good relationships don't come naturally, they must be cultivated (especially with our spouses after the honeymoon). Don't allow indecision to bring you to a standstill. Try something! If that isn't satisfactory, don't swell on it...try something else.

List some goals to develop your capabilities and attributes. Read Proverbs 23:7; Philippians 4:11,13; John 15:13,14; and Psalm 51:10.

Worksheet 3: God Answers Prayer        TOP

Memory verse: "Call unto me and I will answer thee" (Jeremiah 33:3).

Prayer Sandwich
A Prayer Sandwich

The most outstanding example of prayer is "The Lord's Prayer", and we see that Jesus began it worshipfully and with honor and praise. He followed this with adoration and requests and petitions, then closed the prayer with more praise. God wants us to come to Him with everything, but we are to do this with thanksgiving. Don't be shy about talking your problems, big and small, to God in prayer.

Jesus closed His famous prayer with more praise. Amazing as it is, the very sacrifice of praise to the Lord is beneficial to us. Read Isaiah 61:3. It may be hard to start praising the Lord when our circumstances are disheartening, but it will lift the "spirit of heaviness".

A. Answered prayer. There are many accounts of answered prayers in the Bible. Read Job 10:12; 42:6; Acts 9:36-40; Genesis 15:1,2,18; Genesis 21:2; Acts 10:1-36; Judges 6:37-40; Exodus 15:22-25. Think back in your own life. List prayers that have been answered.

B. Prayers to be answered. The elements needed for the answering of our prayers are: have faith, have a right conscience toward God, our requests should be in accordance to God's will, have patience for the answer, and ask in Jesus' name. List below prayers that you desire to be answered.

Worksheet 4: How to Go to Heaven        TOP

I. If you were to die tonight, would you go to heaven?       yes       no       ?
II. What must a person do to get into heaven?

Memory verse: "These things have I written unto you...that ye may know that ye have eternal life..." (I John 5:13).

A. Will good works get us into heaven? Read Titus 3:5; Romans 3:10; and Romans 3:23.

B. God wants to give everyone eternal life. Read I Timothy 3:16; Romans 5:8; John 14:6; and Romans 6:23.

C. God will judge and some will be punished. Read II Peter 2:4-9 and Matthew 25:41.

D. Make Christ Lord. To receive eternal life, we must make Christ Lord. It is more than head knowledge; it is turning our life over to Him and giving Him control. Read James 2:19 and Hebrews 5:9.

Jesus said, "Ye must be born again."

1. Repent, be sorry for and turn from your sins...Luke 13:3
2. Believe Jesus is the Savior...Hebrews 7:25
3. Ask Jesus to be Lord of your life...Revelation 3:20
4. Ask the Lord for strength to be what he wants...Hebrews 5:9
5. Thank Him for loving and forgiving you...I John 1:9

Worksheet 5: Growing in Christ        TOP

Memory verse: "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee" (Psalm 119:11).

It is important to form good spiritual habits. This worksheet will help us in that category. It takes about 21 days to form or break a habit. Let's start today with our worksheets and check our accomplishments on them for 21 days, thus helping ourselves to form acceptable and spiritually healthy habits.

But what are these habits we want to form? They basically break down into five areas. First, a vital prayer life is necessary to maintain our Christian walk. What are we to pray about? The Bible mentions all of the following: thank God for food (I Timothy 4:4,5); pray for strength (Psalm 105:4); for forgiveness (Matthew 6:12); for direction (Acts 1:24); for deliverance (Acts 12:5); for wisdom (James 1:5); for healing (James 5:13-15); pray about all your cares (I Peter 5:7).

Second, We need to read and remember God's word. Two good ways to learn and retain what God says to us through scriptures are: keep a notebook of verses that minister to us; and underline key verses in our Bible. God most often directs and answers us through His word. Memorization is also very important and God's word strongly suggests it. There are five basic steps: only work on one verse at a time; put the verse on a card, keep it with you and review it throughout the day; each time you review it, recite the text then the verse then the text again; read the verse and text just before going to bed and review it in your mind as you drop off to sleep; and one day each week review all the verses you have completed memorizing.

Third, obedience to the Lord is His command. One of those commands is that we gather together with other believers. Read Hebrews 5:9; John 14:15; and I John 3:24. What are some reasons has the Bible given us to go to church? We are also to make an effort to live as Christ-like as possible. Just like babies, however, some take their first steps and have no difficulty from then on. Others fall a number of times before they are skilled enough to stay on their feet. Notice, when the baby falls, it gets back up and tries again until it becomes successful. So it can be with new babies in Christ. If we should fall out of grace with God, we should repent, ask forgiveness and invite Christ back into our lives. As we read, pray and obey, we will grow stronger and will eventually have a successful walk with Christ.

Read Romans 10:10 and Matthew 10:33. If we don't want Christ to deny us before God, then we must let people know that we belong to Him. Actions alone are not enough. Care needs to be taken, however, that we are not obnoxious or overbearing in our witness.

Worksheet 6: In Times of Trouble        TOP

Memory verse: "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose" (Romans 8:28).

A. Problems. Read John 1:11, Matthew 27:27-35, II Corinthians 12:7 and Acts 2:6. God's people do face troubles. How did God bring good out of these problems? List the most outstanding problems in your life.

B. Comfort. God does allow us to have problems, but He does promise us comfort and help. Read II Corinthians 1:3,4; II Corinthians 4:8,9; and II Thessalonians 2:16,17. Prayer is a great help in time of stress. How has prayer helped you?

C. Accentuate the positive. "Whatsoever things are true...honest...just...pure... lovely...of good report, if there be any virtue, if there be any praise, think on these things" (Philippians 4:8) There is a peace and joy that God gives us even in the midst of our problems that is beyond our comprehension. There are many blessings we take for granted. For example, you may live in a free country where you can worship without fear of imprisonment or torture. You may have your eyesight, your hearing, and be able to physically move about. List the positive elements in your life below.

D. Use scripture. Have you experienced the exceeding joy as God has touched your life, even in the midst of strife? God will raise our spirits and give us peace of mind if we will practice the things we have learned in this worksheet. Use the scripture to bolster you. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: (II Timothy 3:16). Learn how to use a concordance and topical index to help you find the scriptures that you need in regards to specific questions or problems.

Worksheet 7: Hearing From God        TOP

Memory verse: "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye" (Psalm 32:8).

A. Instructions for 'Hearing From God'.
        1. Study the word of God in the subject and apply it. Read Psalm 119:105. God's word should be a light for our path. Is it possible to hear and read GOd's word and not apply it to our lives? Perhaps you've even known a person who can quote scripture, but 'lives like the devil'. That kind of person is not applying the word of God to their life. God has promised to instruct and teach us but it is our pace to draw near to God, and then He will draw near to us.
        2. Have a strong prayer life. Praise! Praise! praise! Pray for correct attitudes, for understanding, strength, to be obedient and for direction. Read James 1:5. What are the two key words in this verse? They are "ask God". It is unlikely that we will be led of God or even know His will for us as individuals, if we don't have a strong and regular prayer life. Read Hebrews 13:15. What aspect of prayer is as important as asking?
Our attitudes are also important. We are commanded to forgive others. Other Bible texts to read and think over regarding attitudes are: humility Romans 12:3; be sympathetic, compassionate and line in harmony and with brotherly love I Peter 3:8; and commitment to the cause of Christ Matthew 16:24.
        3. Possibly fast a meal or more as an act of humility before the Lord. What do you think about fasting in conjunction with prayer? Read Acts 13:2,3; Acts 14:23; Luke 2:37; I Samuel 1:8,18; and II Corinthians 6:5.
        4. Look to God for His leadings, but beware of the devil's efforts to deceive you. Impressions or thoughts can come to our minds from three sources: ourselves, God and Satan. Satan even quotes scripture sometimes, as he did to Jesus in Matthew 4:1-11. The devil often uses the human trait of rationalization to deceive us. When our human desires may interfere with hearing and understanding God's will, we may try using a 'fleece', such as was done in Judges 6:37-40.
        5. Trust in God's promise to you: "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me:...and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him" (John 14:21). With this kind of trust and faith, list below under "B" what you would like to hear about from God.

B. I would like to hear from God about....

C. Scriptures that apply. Using a concordance and/or a topical index, list scriptures that apply to the subjects you listed in section "B".

Worksheet 8: Sharing Christ        TOP

Memory verse: "...Be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you" (I Peter 3:15).

To share Christ with authority we need to use scripture and lean on the Holy Spirit to convict the prospect of their spiritual needs and confirm God's truths to them. The Holy Word directs us to witness for Christ, however, the prospect's decision to accept or reject these truths is between them and God. If they do not make the decision to accept Christ at this time, we have not failed, but have successfully planted and watered spiritual seeds. There are many ways to share Christ with another. The important thing is that the Holy Spirit lead us.

The first question below calls the attention of the prospect to a potential need. Their answer to the second question will help you know which scriptures they need to hear the most. It also makes the prospect more aware of where they place their faith, such as in good works or the belief that there is no hell.

I. If you were to die tonight, would you go to heaven?

II. What must a person do to get into heaven?

Worksheet 9: The Enemy        TOP

Memory verse: "Put on the whole armour of God that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11).

The Armor of God
Read Ephesians 6:10-18 and write in the various aspects of "The Armor of God" (save image and print it).

Worksheet 10: Talents, Big & Small        TOP

Memory verse: "And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me" (Luke 9:23).

Read the parable of the talents in Matthew 25:14-30. Did the Lord of the parable give all his servants equal talents? Why was the Lord unhappy with the servant who buried his talent? ....The talents in this parable represent the spiritual gifts and opportunities of the individual believer. The parable shows that God does take into account our abilities, intellect and personalites, and that He expects us to use our talents for Him.

Read John 15:1-8. What is the comparison between the slothful servant in the parable of the talents and the branch that doesn't bear fruit? Branches "B", "C", "D", and "E" represent people who are using their talents for the Lord Jesus Christ. After saving the image below and printing it, write your name on branch "A" and list some of your own talents that could be used to bear fruit (minister) for the Lord.
